When living in California, we all have equal right to enjoy the weather in it's fullest. Bright sunlight, beautiful beach and the freshness of greens in the spring. I guess while working hard for my Open Studios, I was really missing the nature. So a spontaneous visit to the Filoli Garden in Woodside, California just stuck me with it's "Green-ness" which I was craving for.
Especially the transition of the color of ivy leaves were absolutely stunning. While the old leaves darkens its color with dignity, the new leaves comes out fresh with light yellow-ish color. I wanted to interpretate the transition of life of ivy leaves in my piece. And that means, painting time!
Green is such a soothing color to work with. Every layer I paint, it shows different aspect. I see the ages of green of different plants I saw at Filoli here and there.

カリフォルニアに住んでいる全員が体験できる一番の贅沢はその気候だと思います。眩しい太陽と美しい海そして春の新鮮な緑。オープンスタジオでゴタゴタしていた私は完全に自然が恋しくなっていました。なので終わった後ウッドサイドにある庭園へいった時は足りてなかった「緑感」で完全に満たされました。
特にアイビーの葉の緑の移り変わりに惹かれました。古い葉は朽ちて濃い緑に変わる中、新しい葉が黄色をおびた緑でその上に覆いかぶさるように生えていく様子。その移り変わりを表現したく、さっそく帰ってペイントです。
緑は本当に素敵な色です。一層一層色を重ねるたびに色んな表情を見せます。庭園でみた色んな植物の緑があちらこちらに散らばる感じです。
